Welcome to Woodland Hill Montessori School, a diverse and engaging educational partnership of parents, teachers, children, and community.
As one of the best schools in the Capital Region, we use the child-centered Montessori philosophy and curriculum to develop the intellectual, spiritual, physical, artistic, and academic excellence inherent in each child.
Woodland Hill Montessori School is located in North Greenbush, NY, near Albany, NY, easily accessible for families across the Capital Region and beyond. You can reach the school at (518) 283-5400. We’d be happy to greet you on campus for a tour at your convenience.
Woodland Hill Montessori School is a fully-accredited Montessori school. We’re proud of our superb educational models among other private schools. Our children are guided by specially certified teachers who use the well-defined Montessori curriculum and interactive materials to foster skills in language, mathematics, science, geography, and social studies.
The Montessori curriculum varies at the four levels of our school, but our goals are solidly at the center of all our programs:
Woodland Hill Montessori School offers outstanding preschool programs for 3 to 6 year-olds designed to foster growth in independence and problem solving; stimulate concentration and coordination; nurture oral communication skills; and encourage each child’s joy in discovery and learning.
Our private school's preschool program curriculum incorporates pre-reading and math skill development, science activities, geography and cultural studies, sensory exercises and environmental education along with additional opportunities in music, art, physical education and Spanish.
Teachers guide students through the curriculum as children are ready for each new challenge, introducing lessons and then letting children practice what they have learned.
Our emphasis is placed on the process rather than the product of learning, our aim is to develop a love of work and a joy of learning.
The elementary program is divided into lower (ages 6-9) and upper elementary (ages 9-12) levels and is designed to develop independent thinkers and learners. The elementary core curriculum, called “comsic education” by Dr. Montessori, includes language arts, math, geography, history, botany, zoology, and earth science.
Classes in art, music, Spanish and physical education are an integral part of the curriculum. Teachers ensure that each child is working at a comfortable yet challenging level.
The Woodland Hill middle school program (ages 12-14) promotes academic excellence and supports the development of each student’s unique potential by providing a learning environment where each child is respected, caring adults guide and instruct, and small group work strengthens interpersonal skills.
Given our focus on developing the whole child with high academic expectations and an emphasis on critical thinking as well as written and oral communication, parents can be certain that their children are well prepared for the competitive environment of high school.
We welcome the opportunity to meet you and your family, to show you firsthand why we are one of the best schools and the many ways our programs are changing lives. Please call us at the number above today. We look forward to hearing from you. Proudly serving Albany, NY!
